Therapy For Men, Meet Carrie
Professional Background & Experience
As a Los Angeles native, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Sociology from University of California, Davis and my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles. My professional experience as a therapist includes training at The Maple Counseling Center. I've worked with adults and young adults addressing a range of life’s challenges including depression, anxiety, life transitions, emotional expression, relationship dynamics, career challenges, and family issues.
As a Registered Associate Marriage & Family therapist, I work under supervision of Oliver Drakeford, LMFT, CGP #104987
Training & Connections
I hold a certificate in Psychoanalytic Studies from the Los Angeles Institute & Society for Psychoanalytic Studies. The LAISPS Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program offers an integrated curriculum that combines the latest in psychoanalytic research and theoretical thinking with the classical foundations of our understanding of the development of the personality.
I’ve worked on the consulting side with Pacific Teen Treatment, an adolescent treatment facility in Malibu where I work closely with the Clinical Director to develop psycho-educational content and curriculum to train family therapists.
Additionally, I am part of the trusted network of mental health providers for Backline. Backline is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that connects music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources.
Therapeutic Approach
I view therapy from an insight-oriented framework, grounded in Psychodynamic theory. Through this collaborative approach, I encourage the exploration of past and present emotions, beliefs, experiences, and behaviors and work with you to develop a deeper understanding of your early life experiences. Through this process, I believe individuals are able to develop meaningful insight into themselves and their lives.
